On the occasion of a trip to Africa in December 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) a field visit to a children school located in a poor neighborhood in Malawi in order to evaluate its conditions and identify opportunities to provide support in the field of education.
In December 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), had a meeting with a cooperative of 28 women who have benefitted from the support of the ST-EP Foundation for the development of handcraft, and particularly basketry.
Amb. Dho suggested those women to diversify their production in order to offer souvenirs such as place mats that can be easily brought back by tourists, and she also invited them to share their know-how with women living in Mwandama, a cluster cluster of villages that has been supported by the ST-EP Foundation through the Millennium Villages as Tourism Destinations initiative implemented in 2011-2015 together with Millennium Promise. ![]() Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) attended the Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
For the 2018 edition of its festival, Global Citizen brought together its largest contingency of heads of state, dignitaries, a group of the world’s most talented artists and influencers, and thousands of global citizens to celebrate the centenary of Nelson Mandela. The festival was the capstone event of Global Citizen’s year-long 'Be the Generation' campaign aimed at rallying US$1 billion in new commitments, with US$500 million of that set to impact the lives of 20 million women and girls worldwide. H.E. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway and Co-Chair of the UN SDGs Advocacy Group and Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF) promoted the SDGs Balls during a special event on Dec. 1st, 2018 in Alexandra, one of the most affected areas of Johannesburg in South Africa.
The event was co-hosted by organization Field Band Foundation and Global Goals, with the participation of 300 children and adolescents from Alexandra. Prime Minister Solberg and Amb. Dho promoted the UN SDGs Balls and inspired the African teenagers on the world's AIDS day. |
