Former UNESCO Director-General attends a Special Program at Woljeongsa Temple in PyeongChang, Korea3/31/2018 Dr. Irina Bokova, former director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), delegation attended a special program at Woljeongsa Buddhist temple, hosted by Rev. Jeongnyeom, the Abbot of the temple. The program was arranged by Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation.
In March 2018, Dr. Bokova joined Kyung Hee University in Seoul as a chair-professor and head of its arts and humanities faculty. As a chair-professor and honorary chancellor of Humanitas College, she will be giving regular lectures to students and participating in seminars and forums with a focus on a variety of global development and civic issues

The International Charity Foundation (ICF) hosted its first SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Walks, in order to raise awareness of the SDGs in the context of sports and outdoor leisure, and inspire action through the message “Leaving No One Behind”.
Participants of this event included Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of ICF, and members of Seoul-based international group Millennium Hikers, fostering positive social, environmental and economic impacts of hiking on destinations, and sharing sustainable, intercultural hiking experiences between local hosts and their guests. This first SDGs Walks took place in Namsan Park, located in the geographic center of Seoul, on March 25, 2018. On March 18, 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, UN SDGs Advocate and Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation (ICF), attended the closing ceremony of PyeongChang 2018, or the Winter XXIII Olympics and XII Paralympics in Korea.
During the ceremony, Amb. Dho met Mr. Andrew Parsons, 3rd President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) who praised ICF for having invited 100 soldiers from the United States Army Garrison (USAG) in Yongsan, Korea, to attend competitions during the Olympics and Paralympics, within the framework of the USAG’s BOSS – Better Opportunity for Single Soldier program. This project was implemented in partnership with the government Gangwon Province, host of PyeongChang 2018. During the 2018 Winter Paralympics in PyeonChang, Korea, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Advocate, joined hands with Amb. Dho Young-shim, Chairperson of UNWTO ST-EP Foundation and UN SDGs Advocate in raising global awareness of the SDGs through sports. Together with Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, they promoted the UN SDGs Ball, as part of a promotion campaign led by Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, co-Chair of the UN SDGs Advocacy Group. Mr. Choi Moon Soon, Governor of Gangwon Province, the host of the XIII Olympic and XII Paralympic Winter Games, expressed his support by offering the two mascot plush dolls of the games. PyeongChang 2018 - Garrison Commander of USAG shows appreciation to ICF - Olympics Seoul, Korea3/12/2018 On March 12, 2018, Amb. Dho Young-shim, Chairperson of the International Charity Foundation – ICF and UN SDGs Advocate, had a meeting at the United States Army Garrison (USAG) Yongsan, with Colonel J. Scott Peterson, Garrison Commander, together with Mr. Yoo, ICF Board Member.
Within the framework of its activities, ICF partnered with the Government of Gangwon Province and USAG’s BOSS – Better Opportunity for Single Soldier - program to invite 100 USAG soldiers to attend the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. Col. Peterson hosed the meeting to express his thanks to ICF, and its endeavor to promote friendly and sustainable relationship between the US and Korea. As she was in PyeongChang to cheer the Norwegian athletes at the XXII Paralympics, H.R.H. Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and her delegation attended a special program at Woljeongsa Buddhist temple, together Amb. Dho Young-shim, Chairperson of UNWTO ST-EP Foundation and UN SDGs Advocate, and Mr. Choi Moon Soon, Governor of Gangwon Province, host of 2018 PyeongChang. This event was an opportunity for the participants to praise the resilience of all paralympiansn and how sports help them overcome their life challenges.
As Woljeongsa, head temple of Jogye Buddhist Order, is hosting temple stays Princess Märtha expressed her deep interest in cultural and spiritual tourism in Korea. During the opening ceremony of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang on March 9, Amb. Dho Young-shim, Chairperson of UNWTO ST-EP Foundation and UN SDGs Advocate, met Mr. José Ramón Lete, President of the Spanish National Sports Council (Consejo Superior de Deportes, CSD). CSD is the government organization under the the Ministry of the Presidency, in charge of directing the development of sport at national level. As a continuation, Amb. Dho organized a meeting with Mr. Lete and H.E. Mr. Gonzalo Ortiz Díez-Tortosa, Ambassador of Spain to the Republic of Korean, to discuss about promoting SDGs leardership through sports and education, as well as a project of establishing a The “Public-Private Leadership Academy” in Madrid, Spain. This PPL Academy, , which would offer customized education, training, capacity-building, and awareness-raising programs to executive officers from public and private organizations, with a focus on leadership and governance as tools for global sustainable development.
